Is this a gambling or real-money gaming site?
No. Let's Mahj Together is strictly a scheduling and logistics tool for in-person, social, recreational mahjong games. We do not offer, facilitate, or promote gambling, betting, wagers, stakes, entry fees, prize money, sweepstakes, raffles, or any form of real-money play. Your subscription is for access to the matching and notification platform — not for any prize pool.
How does Let's Mahj Together find players near me?
When you sign up, you set your home location (address or zip code). When a host creates a game, Let's Mahj Together notifies all players within the chosen radius via SMS and/or email.
Do I need to download an app?
No — but you can. Let's Mahj Together works on the web and via SMS today, and our iPhone and Android apps are coming soon. All three stay in sync because they share the same account.
Can I play with just 3 players?
Yes! Mahjong can be played with 3 players using the ghost/Sadie rule. When creating a game, you specify how many players you need — 3, 4, 5, or 6.
What's the difference between Priority and Standard?
Priority ($10/mo) can host games, search and join any open game, and is notified instantly. Standard ($5/mo) can be invited to games via SMS or push and join the ones they like, but cannot host or browse-and-join on their own. Notifications go out 15 minutes after Priority.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 30 days free at the Standard level. No credit card required. After the trial, choose Priority ($10/mo) or Standard ($5/mo).
Can I host a game?
Yes — with a Priority subscription. Create a game with your venue, time, number of players needed, and search radius. Let's Mahj Together handles the notifications.
What is "On the Go"™?
Travel is a great time to slip away for some "you time." Set a temporary location in Account → Traveling? and Let’s Mahj Together matches you to games near where you actually are. Pick an end date and your home location is restored automatically.
What about group texts?
During onboarding, you can opt in to group SMS so players in your game can coordinate. It's optional — hosts can see who opted in and plan accordingly.
What mahjong styles are supported?
Let's Mahj Together is style-agnostic. Whether you play American, Riichi, Hong Kong, or any other variant — if you need players, we find them.
